Knockout Competitions - Rules

The format is MATCHPLAY, better ball for pairs

Handicap allowance:
  • Singles - full handicap, lower handicap off scratch
  • Pairs - 3/4 of the difference, lower handicap off scratch
Matches to be played at the Downshire Golf Club, off the WHITE TEES

The player in the (top) RED BOX on the competition sheet is responsible for contacting the opponent(s) and organising the match. All matches must be completed by the due dates. It is expected that the matches be organised between the teams in the spirit of the game. If mutually acceptable dates cannot be agreed BEFORE the due dates, the Captain or Competitions Secretary must be notified ASAP. A maximum extension of one week MAY be granted.

It is the sole responsibility of the winners to enter their name for the next round on the competition sheet. If no winner has been entered for the next round by the due date and the Captain or Competitions Secretary has not been contacted, the player/players in the bottom box will automatically be given a bye to the next round.
If any disputes cannot be resolved between the players a decision will be made by the Competitions Secretary and the Captain which will be binding. No appeals (not even to the House of Lords) will be granted.

In the event of a draw after 18 holes, extra holes shall be played until a hole is won.
